Is Debt Consolidation a bad idea?

20 years 7 months ago
debt consolidation looks the same as bankruptcy when you try to buy a home a car or even get a credit card. If you have alot of debt, your better off declaring bankruptcy, at least then your credit is screwed and your debt free. With DC your credit is screwed and you have to PAY!

Some product and functions off credit reporting Just like to explain a bit more about the credit reporting side, how things work between creditors and the credit reporting agencies. There are of course the 3 major credit reporting agencies, and then there are the credit bureaus. Credit Bureaus usually resell credit reports to creditors from the credit reporting agencies.

http://www.publicutilityhome.com/state.shtml Look up for utility commission sites for each state. If you have billing, even reporting disputes, ID Theft problems any thing of the sort, and your disputes are not being processed with the respective utility company then this is where you take your disputes / complaints.

Reinsertion

Reinsertion Remember the rules of disputing with the Credit Reporting Agencies: If you dispute then the CRA has 30 days to investigate, if it results in deletion (like the original creditor or collection agency failed to respond in allowed time) they can still later reinsert the item. BUT - they must give you 5 day notice from the time the item is reinserted on the credit report. If they don't then you have them. Just write back and dispute that you had not been given proper 5 business day notice and that you want the item removed for good.

Credit Card offers that renewed SOL:

20 years 7 months ago
This is an example of a creditor sneaking in a contract to renew the statute of limitations for purposes of obligating a consumer to pay on a time barred debt. Please read carefully and be aware when running into offers disguised as establishing new credit! A consumer has every right to pay on past debt if they want, that is out side of the statute of limitations, and in the deal establish a new credit account, but if you default on this second account you will have a new statute of limitations, that can give the creditor remedy to sue you in court.
