hi had a credit card back in 1995 in MD i'm sure that i paid all but i have a phone call from collecting agency that i still have outstanding balance with a lot of interests however the bank i got it from is merged into another bank and new bank doesn't have any record i've checked all 3 credit reports but nothing in there questions are; 1. do i need to pay this even i nor collecting agency can't verify this was used by me? 2. it's more than 10 years now; still i need to pay if i have to? 3. if i have to pay, whom do i need to pay to? collecting company or visa? 4.

I recently discovered some old medical accounts that are listed with collection agencies. These may in fact be mine; I need statements of account detailing the charges to determine this. Of course, the CAs are saying the records may be in a warehouse and could take weeks to retrieve, etc. and are trying to get me to pay them off and "get reimbursed later" if they are in error. Here's my question: Is there any point in contacting the original doctors/hospitals and asking them to recall the accounts? Hpw about asking them for a summary of the charges?
