If I consolidate my loans does this effect my credit rating in a negative way or make it harder to purchase a car or home later?

just a quick note....my credit report states the date of last activity for a payment was 4-2001. I was served with a summons and complain 5-6-05. The paperwork was filed with the court 4-27-05. According to my records last payment posted my bank account 4-2-01.

I am so in debt, I do not know what to do. I got in a bad habit of going to those payday loans. I strarted out with one and now I owe in 4 different places. My whole paycheck goes to them. I am left with no money. I can't afford to pay for my car because I have to pay them. I am also behind on my house payment. I am living in hell. I do not know what to do.Please somebody help me, I have three children. I sometimes don't have to eat because I have to pay payday loans.

I think that this forum is a great idea and that the information provided is very helpful, but many of the responses that I read all have the same information and no detailed answers. i am considering enrolling in this program and have spoken with a counselor and I can't get a straight answer on how this process will effect my credit or my relationship with other creditors in the future. By enrolling in this program what will happen to my credit and how long will it be effected for? My program is for 20 months.
